Psychological assessments before operations
Aesthetic Surgical Procedures
Before undergoing aesthetic surgical procedures, many plastic surgeons require a psychological evaluation to rule out body dysmorphic disorders.
Subjectively perceived physical "flaws" often cause significant distress and psychological suffering for affected individuals. As a result, many patients seek surgical correction (e.g., labia, breasts, nose, ears, etc.). To determine whether the desire for aesthetic surgery stems from an underlying psychological condition, plastic surgeons frequently request a clinical psychological assessment beforehand.
Procedure:
-
Anamnesis interview
-
Exploratory discussion (clarification of motivation, health limitations, quality of life, etc.)
-
Psychological testing
Duration: 1–2 sessions (50 minutes each)
Cost: €230 (private)
